Manchester Metrolink 1992/93

Most of these images were taken either during the street testing of the then new Metrolink Tram system, or shortly after it had entered into full service. The shots showing the LRVs with "Sorry not in service" running boards were mostly from the testing phase in 1992.

I'm about as big a fan of Royalty as Oliver Cromwell, but when the Queen passes by on the 'Official Opening' tram that you are trying to photograph (1010), then you'd be a fool to miss the opportunity. The shot below looks like it was composed and that I was waiting to take it, but the fact is I was just waiting outside Victoria Station trying to get a shot of the tram as it came down Balloon Street, and after I'd taken my shot I just lifted the camera and pressed the button as the tram passed by me, no focusing or anything else, it was just pure luck that it came out okay and with the right people in the scene! smile
